Devon Beaches – Beer Beach & Seaton Beach

August 6, 2016

Beer Beach, Devon

You can’t go down to the south coast of the UK and not visit the beach at all – they’re some of the best in the UK! We actually stumbled upon both of these beaches while we were away in the Caravan in Devon last week. We’d planned to visit a few others, but we just didn’t have time to fit them all in while we were down there.

Beer Beach

We actually only visited Beer because Shane decided on a Sunday evening that he wanted a fish and chips. Apparently, fish and chip shops don’t usually open on Sundays, so it was a bit of a struggle to find one firstly, near our campsite, but also that was open. We found one about 15 minutes away in Beer and I’m so glad we did!

It was such a lovely little village by the sea – mostly full of fishing boats, deck chairs and beach huts. I loved it! It was so colourful. We went just after it had stopped raining, and Shane was desperate for some fish and chips, so we didn’t get to stay long. I’d loved to have explored a little more though! (Oh and the fish and chips were pretty amazing btw).

Seaton Beach

Seaton beach was the second beach that we stumbled upon. The closest supermarket to us happened to be in Seaton, so we stopped by the beach on the way back from the shops. It wasn’t as ‘instagram’ worthy as Beer beach, but it would have been a nice beach to chill at for the day. Anywhere with beach huts wins me over for sure!

Oh and we also happened to see the Red Arrows training while we were there over the hill – they’re my absolute favourites, so I was SO happy! (You can very feintly see them in the last photo if you look realllly hard).

What are some of your favourite Devon beaches? I wish we’d have gotten the time to visit some more while we were there.

These colorful beach chairs are just so quintessential for the British seaside to me! And they are obviously oh so photogenic! ๐Ÿ˜‰ This isn’t quite Devon, but I’ve recently seen another blogger write about the Jurassic Coast in Dorset and in particular a beach called Durdle Door that I now really want to visit – at this point, I have no idea how I am ever going to be able to visit all the places on my UK bucket list! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope you have a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes! I’ve not really seen them at many UK beaches, so I loved them!
Hahaha, funny story about Durdle Door. We actually popped over there on this trip (it was about an hour and 40 mins drive from our campsite in Devon), on probably one of the busiest days of the year. The overflow carpark was almost full, and we took a little peak down to the beach before paying for parking just to see, and all you could see was people! So we left and there was a huge queue to get into the car park at that point (we got there around 2pm)! I was SO updet that I didn’t get to visit! It’s on my list to visit too, so I’d definitely recommend visiting in off season if you do ever visit, because that was crazy!!

Maybe it’s good that you decided to not visit on that day – I can imagine that the amount of people might have ruined what would have been a lovely experience in off-season! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi April!
Wow! This place looks magical! Absolutely gorgeous. Those little chairs on the beach are adorable, too. It’s picturesque!

I used to live in Bournemouth and Totnes… Your photos of the British Coast and beach cottages brought me right back. Thank you for sharing!

Ah, how amazing! I’ve never been to either, though we did drive through Totnes to visit Start Point Lighthouse. I wish we had a little longer to explore, because I’ve heard that Totnes is really nice!

Ahh, yay! If you’re near the Dorset end at any point, definitely try pull in Beer beach – even just for a quick stop!

Beautiful photos! Would love to go and visit the UK some time! I bet it would be beautiful! I love that the beaches have stones instead of sand. Something so different than California beaches.

Ooh, see I prefer sand beaches – the stones can get SO hot, and they’re so sore to walk on haha! You can’t wear sandles because it’s so unstable, but you take them off and the stones kill your feet. Give me all the sand haha!

Ah, these are such pretty photos… and gorgeous beaches! We have all sand here on Lake Michigan, but when we travel up north to Lake Superior, it’s all rocks!

Tieka – you’ve got me wanting to visit Michigan so badly! It looks absolutely stunning! I love that you have two different kinds of beaches depending on the Lake, though, as much as I despise sand, I’d go for all the sand beaches over rocks any day haha!
