A couple months ago, I did this post about our little container vegetable garden. I’m excited to report that it’s still going strong! We’ve ate all of the spinach, rocket, peas and almost all of the lettuce and strawberries, but we’ve got loads of other stuff still coming up and I planted more peas. I’m most excited about our tomatoes – we’ve got loads of little ones growing, so I can’t wait for them to ripen up so we can fully enjoy them!
I’m super excited about our carrots and beetroot too – I definitely planted the carrots way too close though (I didn’t think they’d actually grow as I’m usually useless with seeds and gardening in general haha, but they worked!), but there’s a few that are almost ready to be pulled up! Since the last blog post, I planted some leeks, spring onions, and pumpkins from seeds and they’re all coming on really well- though I have a little problem with ants on my pumpkin plant so if anyone has any suggestions for that, that would be great! 🙂
One of the things that didn’t work that I was a little gutted about was the broccoli. I don’t think it coped well being planted in pots in the heatwave that we had a couple of weeks back as I’d water them in the early morning, but by the time I got home from work they’d completely dried up and wilted till I watered them again. Now the butterflies and moths have been hacking away at the leaves, so its looking like a bit of a lost cause haha. I’ll try again next year when I can hopefully start growing them in a raised garden bed!
It’s so strange looking back at the post from June and seeing all the pictures that I took back then and the difference in the plants in just the past few months like how much they’ve grown and how many more plant pots I’ve added with more vegetables.
