Days Out

A Winter Walk at Anglesey Abbey

The house isn’t open this time of the year, but there’s still plenty to see in the gardens and working flour mill. We were pretty shocked by just how busy it was there for a winters day, but it was a great little afternoon out, taking in all the pretty flowers starting to bloom.

There were hundreds of snowdrops carpeting the ground beneath the trees (they’ve currently got a snowdrop festival on with over 250 varieties in the gardens blooming till around March 1st), along with the hellebores and crocus’ starting to bloom and the silver birch trees were glowing so bright in the winter sunshine. We even spotted a couple super early daffodills, hidden in a border. I literally squeeled with excitement when I saw the pretty blossom on the trees too! To me, blossom is like the first signs of spring, so I loved seeing the trees starting to bloom. Yay for warmer weather!

Thank you! I love going to little local places, even just to get out the house for a little bit. You’re so lucky to have somewhere similar to this to wander around – I bet it’s amazing!

Thank you! I’m so glad we decided to visit a little later in the day to get the sun just a little lower (totally by coincidence haha).

Looks like a lovely way to spend the afternoon, beautiful pictures! I actually enjoy wandering around such gardens in the winter, you get to see the bare bones and the more graphic features. It is looking very springtime indeed, that’s a great sign!

I’ve never actually thought of it that way haha. Usually, I don’t like walking around places where there are ‘naked trees’ as I call them, but I love how you can turn it around to see the other side of it! It really was such a beautiful day of exploring!

Thank you! Yeah, I never really thought about it, but you don’t really see them just around town haha! They’re so pretty though! 🙂
