It was originally planned for October, but because of the weather it kept getting rescheduled and we eventually got to go up last month! Ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to go in a hot air balloon, and my favourite thing in the summer is going to balloon festivals, so I was so excited when my mum suggested we go up!

To be honest, I was so nervous before the flight! I don’t have a fear of heights but I was nervous about the basket breaking and how high we’d be and where we’d end up, but as soon as you get up there you just stop thinking about all of that and completely enjoy it. It’s such a weird feeling to explain. It’s so weird how quiet it is up there too and the only things you can hear is the sheep and cows in the fields and dogs barking, but somehow you can’t hear the cars!

We flew with Ladybird Balloons and took off from Langar Hall in Nottinghamshire and ended up about 15 miles away on an old RAF Base. We had a pretty bumpy landing being dragged on our side up and down for about 20 metres, but we all had a good laugh. We all had to help set up the balloon which was fun, and then when we landed to pack it away – I just wish that we’d have gotten the chance to see the balloon fully up before having to get in it, as we never got to see the whole thing. It was such an amazing experience and I totally recommend (even if you’re scared of heights) that you go up in one! I’m dying to go up again!
