Honestly, it is one of the weirdest and unique places I have ever visited in the UK so far haha! There is so much contrast to see in the area that its just amazing to go there for the day to explore. It’s basically just a desolate shingle landscape with the occasional abandoned beach hut and boats and newly built little houses that would be perfect as little holiday homes, alongside a nuclear power-plant! Although you wouldn’t think it when you see the landscape, its home to a third of all plants in the UK and has a large amount of wildlife living in the area too.

After visiting the lighthouse, we took a little walk along the boardwalk to the beach and went for a very painful walk across the shingle for a while (my shoes were definitely not cut out for the shingle – I could feel every stone through them!). We then drove back to where the majority of the houses are to explore the old abandoned railways, boats and beach huts. It was such a fun day out and so interesting to see, though it was very strange!

this place looks cool. abandoned, but it’s like it’s meant to be that way.
